Part-Time Probation Clerk

$15.00 per hour, 20 to 29 hours/week

Under the direction of the court administrator and the director of probation, a deputy clerk is responsible for clerical support for the probation department including cashiering, scheduling events on the computer, generating and mailing notices, preparing and distributing daily court calendars, reviewing files returned from court events, entering event dispositions on the computer, assisting with counter/phone public service, performing general data entry, filing papers, processing incoming mail and other duties as assigned. Ability to maintain high ethical standards and confidences. Multi-tasking skills essential. Interpersonal skills necessary to maintain effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, and representatives of other agencies. Additional responsibilities may include court recording, LEIN access, and staff training.
The duties of this position require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and VDT screen, and hearing and speech sufficient to comprehend, process, and communicate in person and/or over the telephone.
Possession of a high school diploma is a minimum requirement. An associate degree in a liberal arts field is desired. Prior training is desired in customer service techniques, keyboarding, Outlook email, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams.
Experience as a court clerk, particularly in the area of probation, is desired. Traffic-criminal clerk experience and JIS software is a plus.
