The Hawk Makerspace empowers makers of all ages and abilities by providing access to a quality technical space.  We work with our participants to foster a culture of community by way of shared resources, shared knowledge, shared experiences, and shared responsibility.

Types of Passes:

ANNUAL

The Annual Pass is your best value option saving you about 10%!An Annual Pass allows year-long use of The Hawk Makerspace during Open Studio Hours.This Pass also provides complimentary 3-Saws OR Wide-Format Printing Checkout Course for the Passholder.

MONTHLY*

The Monthly Pass gives you all the same benefits of an Annual Pass while keeping the payments manageable and convenient.A Monthly Pass allows monthly use of The Hawk Makerspace during Open Studio Hours.This Pass also provides complimentary 3-Saws OR Wide-Format Printing Checkout Course for the Passholder.

Our convenient monthly Pass allows you to have fees electronically deducted from your checking/savings account or credit card on a month-to-month basis for as long as you would like. Our EFT service is free; however, we require up to 2 months payment when you enroll.

DAILY

The Daily Pass is your option for Pay-As-You-Use.This Pass allows a single day use of The Hawk Makerspace during Open Studio Hours.Please note that to use any of the equipment, the user MUST have completed the relevant Checkout Course.It will benefit the user to see if the desired Checkout Course is available for the day/equipment they wish to use that day, prior to purchasing a Daily Pass.Daily Passes are non-transferrable.

**YOUTH 12-15
Youth 12-15 are only permitted in The Hawk Makerspace if named on a Family Pass. Users 12-15 years old MUST be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times listed on the same Family Pass. Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the space during Open Studio Hours unless enrolled for a class or program explicitly for that age group. Some equipment requires that both minor and adult must have completed appropriate checkout course.
 
ADD-ON PASSES
Add-on Passes are available to teens, adults, and adult 50+ when they are being added on to a family Pass which has already reached the maximum of 2 adults and/or 5 dependents. Add-on Passes are only available to households with a family Pass.
 
DISCOUNT RATES
Discount rates apply to monthly and annual rates only.  The following is a list of those eligible to receive a discounted rate.  Please note 10% off is the percentage off the rate category the qualifying individual is eligible for.

  • College Student – 10% / College ID, transcripts, report card, etc required
  • Active or Retired Military – 10% / Military ID required
  • Employees of businesses located in the City of Farmington Hills & City of Farmington – Resident Rate / verification required – ex. Business ID Badge, pay stub, W2, etc.
  • Harrison HS Alumni – Resident Rate / verification required – ex. Harrison ID Badge, transcripts, report card, diploma, yearbook, etc.
  • Farmington Public School Staff & Current Students – Resident Rate / School ID Required

CHECKOUT COURSES

A checkout course is required before independently operating any tools that pose a danger to the user or nearby people, or where the tool could easily be damaged by misuse.  Checkout courses cover safety protocols, basic operation of the tool, standard operating procedure (SOP) documents associated with use of the tool and is priced in addition to Passholder fees.  All monthly/annual Passholders receive a complimentary 3-Saws OR Wide Format Printer/Vinyl Cutter Checkout Course upon enrollment.

TOOL RESERVATION

If you know you will need uninterrupted access to a specific piece of equipment, it is highly encouraged that you reserve a time slot in advance, otherwise we cannot guarantee it will not be in use by someone else.

FACILITY REGULATIONS

THE HAWK MAKERSPACE

  • Ages 16 and older have access to The Hawk Makerspace during Open Studio hours.
  • Ages 12-15 are permitted in The Hawk Makerspace during Open Studio when accompanied by an adult on a Family Makerspace Pass. Users in this age range may be permitted into the makerspace if participating in a class or program for this age group.
  • Children under the age of 12 are not permitted in the space during Open Studio Hours.  Users in this age range may be permitted into the makerspace if participating in a class or program for this age group.

THE HAWK FACILITY WIDE

  • Ages 12 & up may access the facility without parent/guardian supervision.
  • Ages 11 & under must be directly supervised by a person(s) age 16 & older in all areas of the facility except for The Hawk’s Nest and/or Registered Programs.

FITNESS CENTER

  • Ages 17 and older have access to Fitness Center
  • Ages 14-16 are permitted to the Fitness Center after Orientation
  • Ages 12-13 are permitted in the Fitness Center after Orientation, when accompanied by an adult (18 or older).
  • Ages 11 & under are not permitted in the Fitness Center.

SWIMMING POOL

  • Ages 11 & under must be directly supervised by a person(s) age 16 & up.
  • Ages 5 & under must always remain within arm’s reach of an adult.

HAWK’S NEST

  • Ages 3 through 11 can utilize babysitting services at The Hawk’s Nest.  Children must be potty-trained.
  • 2-hour time limit; and parents must remain in the building.
