Farmington Hills Fire Department Headquarters to Temporarily Relocate to The Hawk beginning March 19

Posted:  03/13/2025

Administrative contact information will remain the same and all fire stations

will remain fully staffed during the temporary location change

Beginning Wednesday, March 19, the Farmington Hills Fire Department headquarters will temporarily relocate to The Hawk at 29995 W. 12 Mile Road. The temporary relocation will allow construction to begin on a grant-funded renovation of the Fire Department headquarters. The construction project is expected to begin March 19 and conclude in September 2025. During this time, all contact information for the Fire Department, including phone, fax and email, will remain the same.

Staffing at Fire Station #5, which is located in the same building as the old Fire Department headquarters, will not be impacted. Renovations will only impact the administrative wing of the building. Beginning March 19, in-person fire prevention submittals, report requests, CPR class payments and all other Fire Department business will take place at The Hawk.

Fire Department offices will be located on the third floor of The Hawk. Community members who need to conduct business with the Fire Department, may enter The Hawk’s campus via the driveway at the traffic light, continue to the elevated parking lot on the right, and enter the building on the west side via the walkway from the circle drive to the third floor. Fire Department administrative offices will be located to the left, next to SOAR.

On Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18, administrative offices of the Fire Department will be closed to the public, as employees relocate their operations to the temporary location. Regular business hours of Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will resume at The Hawk on Wednesday, March 19.

The renovation is funded by a grant from the State of Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity and includes updates to Fire headquarters to create a dedicated Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to enhance the City’s ability to effectively plan for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from large-scale emergencies. The project is expected to be completed in September 2025, when Fire Department administration will locate back to the campus of City Hall.
