Reminder: Early, In-person Voting Available to Farmington Hills Voters ahead of Feb. 27 Presidential Primary

The City of Farmington Hills is preparing for in-person, early voting ahead of the Feb. 27 Presidential Primary, beginning Saturday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 25.

In November 2022, Michigan voters approved a constitutional amendment to grant voters the right to vote early and in person at early voting sites before statewide and federal elections. The constitutional amendment also gives communities the option to provide early voting for local elections. The City of Farmington Hills successfully participated in a pilot program with Oakland County to offer early voting in the local election in Nov. 2023. The Presidential Primary is the first election in which early voting is available to all voters statewide.

“Early voting in the City’s local election last fall went well, with voter turnout increasing daily throughout the early voting period,” said Farmington Hills City Clerk Carly Lindahl. “Considering the statewide expansion of early voting, and the importance of this Presidential Primary, we’re expecting an even better turnout through this early voting cycle.”

Registered voters will be able to vote at two locations:

  • Regional Early Voting Site #5 at the Costick Activities Center, located at 28600 W. Eleven Mile Road in Farmington Hills,
  • Oakland County Central Early Voting Site #19 at the Waterford Oaks Activity Center, located at 2800 Watkins Lake Road in Waterford.

Early voting is available to registered Farmington Hills voters for nine days prior to the election, starting two Saturdays before Election Day and ending the Sunday before Election Day. Early voting dates for the upcoming Presidential Primary are Saturday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 25. Sites will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day except Thursday, when the sites will be open 12 to 8 p.m. Both voting sites will have the same hours of operation. Registered voters from the City of Farmington can also vote early at the Costick Activities Center.

Starting with the Presidential Primary, early voting is available in Michigan for all state and federal elections, allowing voters to cast a ballot before Election Day, in an experience similar to voting on Election Day. During the early voting period, voters are issued a ballot and can then insert their ballot directly into a tabulator at their early voting site.
