Dog Licenses

Close Up of DogAn Oakland County dog license is required for all dogs four months of age or older, and a dog license must be purchased within 30 days of:
  • A puppy turning four months of age or
  • A dog moving into Farmington Hills
The following are required in order to obtain a dog license:
  • Proof of rabies vaccination (must show dog owner’s name and address)
  • Proof of neutering (in order to receive a neutered/spayed fee discount)

Where/How to Pay: Dog licenses for 2024 are available for purchase from January 1 to November 30:

Oakland County Animal Control City of Farmington Hills Treasury Division counter
  • Located at City Hall 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Pay with cash or check
  • Pay with a credit card (additional 3% third-party fees apply, $2 minimum)
Register by mail with the City of Farmington Hills from January 1 to June 1, must include:
  • Request form
  • Copy of a valid rabies certificate
  • Self-addressed stamped envelope and
  • Check or money order
