Housing Rehabilitation Specialist
Job Description
Assist in the operation of the Housing Rehabilitation Program. The Housing Rehabilitation Specialist will qualify applicants to the program, conduct technical home inspections, develop project construction specifications and cost estimates, prepare bid specifications, monitor/inspect projects, and complete environmental review documentation. Assist in the operation of the Rental Inspection Program with the Community Development Coordinator and staff of the Building and Zoning Divisions. The Housing Rehabilitation Specialist will ensure compliance with City Ordinances and the International Property Maintenance Codes and will work with the Community Development Coordinator to manage documentation requirements of program.
Previous Work Experience
At least three (3) years of related work experience, such as housing rehabilitation or construction.
Education
At least two (2) years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in construction or a related field preferred/
Special Skills and Training
Experience with word processing, spreadsheet software, bid/specification, permit tracking and federal tracking software. Valid MI operator’s license.
