Farmington Hills Police Department to Offer Citizens Police Academy for Community Members Starting April 1
The immersive weekly program will give community members an in-depth look at the Farmington Hills Police Department, its policies and procedures
he Farmington Hills Police Department is excited to announce that registration is open for its Citizens Police Academy, which starts Tuesday, April 1. This immersive program meets once a week for 10 weeks and offers community members a unique opportunity to gain insight into law enforcement practices, procedures, and the daily operations of the Farmington Hills Police Department.
"The Citizens Police Academy is an excellent opportunity for community members to gain a firsthand look into the work the Farmington Hills Police Department does to keep the community safe," said Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott. "This program strengthens the partnership between the Department and the community by fostering understanding, trust and collaboration. We encourage anyone interested in learning more about law enforcement to join us."
Participants in the Citizens Police Academy will gain knowledge about law enforcement practices, including dispatch, investigations and more, as well as develop a greater appreciation of the dedication and professionalism of the men and women who serve the Farmington Hills community.
All classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. from April 1 through June 3. Most sessions will be held in the Farmington Hills Police Department training room, located at 31655 W. Eleven Mile Road, west of Orchard Lake Road. Some sessions will take place at other locations important to policing, including the 47th District Court and the Oakland County Medical Examiner Office.
