City of Farmington Hills Welcomes New Director of Public Services
Experienced engineering professional joined the City Monday, April 1
 
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (April 2, 2024) – The City of Farmington Hills is pleased to announce the selection of Jacob Rushlow as the City’s new director of public services. His first day was April 1, 2024.
 
Bringing over 23 years of engineering and public services expertise gained in both the public and private sectors, Rushlow is poised to lead the department with distinction. Holding a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Toledo and as a graduate of the Michigan Public Service Institute at Central Michigan University, Rushlow’s academic background complements his extensive professional experience.
 
Most recently serving as the assistant director of public works for the City of Livonia, Rushlow has demonstrated proficiency in asset management, project delivery, operations and capital improvement project budgeting. His seven-year career in Livonia was marked by notable achievements and a steadfast commitment to excellence.
 
“After a thorough search and interview process, the City is excited to welcome Jacob Rushlow as its new director of public services,” said City Manager Gary Mekjian. “As a licensed engineer, his wealth of experience and dedication to excellence positions him as a valuable addition to the City’s leadership team, ensuring that his expertise will continue to advance the public services department and enhance the quality of life for residents.”
 
Recognized for his contributions to civil engineering, Rushlow has been honored with several awards from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Southeastern Michigan Branch. Moreover, his role as a thought leader at industry conferences for over a decade underscores his dedication to advancing best practices and innovation in public services. He is an established expert in public services and co-author of numerous publications for ASCE’s “Report Card for Michigan’s Infrastructure.”
 
Rushlow’s appointment follows the promotion of Karen Mondora to assistant city manager in November 2023.
