Dr. Randy Bruce, Council Member of Farmington Hills, has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee. Council Member Bruce was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on workforce development, education, early childhood, public health, mental health, substance use, veterans, seniors, immigration and more. The appointment was announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio.

“This is a great honor to be re-appointed back to this committee, to help shape Federal Policy, and to bring our local voice to what is happening in Washington DC to benefit our City,” said Dr. Bruce on this important appointment to the NLC.

As a member of NLC’s Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee, Council Member Bruce will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the administration and at home in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

“NLC’s federal advocacy committees are vital for uplifting the voices and needs of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to decision-makers in Washington,” said National League of Cities President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio. “I am excited to work with Council Member Bruce and look forward to supporting their vision and leadership as they serve on the Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee this year and help grow the partnership between local and federal leaders.”
The leadership of this year’s committee will consist of Chair Kim Norton, Mayor of Rochester, Minnesota; Vice Chair Michael O’Connor, Mayor of Frederick, Maryland; and Vice Chair John Strand, Commissioner of Fargo, North Dakota.
