In an address last week during the Greater Farmington Area Chamber of Commerce State of the Cities event at The Hawk, Mayor Theresa Rich delivered her inaugural State of the City address, highlighting the City’s vast successes over the past year, and focusing on future projects and initiatives that will continue to propel the City’s future impact and growth.
A video overview of successes from the last year can be viewed here. The video highlights the impact of the City’s award-winning public services, extensive recreation offerings, expanded investment in public safety, and more.

“We’re continually improving our infrastructure, we remain one of the safest cities of this size in the state and our Special Services Department continues to provide endless opportunities to enhance our quality of life,” said Mayor Theresa Rich. “The future is bright in Farmington Hills and the City’s commitment to the community is stronger than ever.”

Highlights for the future from the Mayor’s speech included:

  • The continuation of collaboration with SiFi Networks, as the Network installs its Farmington Area FiberCity infrastructure throughout the City to provide community members and businesses with fast and reliable fiber internet.
  • Exciting new development and redevelopment in the City, including:
    • The Emerson, a new modern apartment and townhouse community, unlike anything else in Farmington Hills that will break ground later in 2024.
    • The recently approved Hunter’s Square redevelopment that will transform the gateway of Farmington Hills to include outdoor dining, pedestrian-friendly access and public art.
  • Increased focus on mental wellness to ensure community members have access to resources they need.
  • Working with neighboring communities to develop a unified and coordinated approach to address the deer overpopulation safely and humanely.
  • Expanded recognition of the City’s regional impact, leading to collaborations with elected officials and organizations beyond the borders of Farmington Hills to bring influential events and resources to the Farmington Hills community, including:
    • The “On The Clock Tour” with Visit Detroit on Tuesday, March 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to give Oakland County residents an immersive sneak peek of the upcoming NFL draft, and
    • The Oakland County State of the County address to be presented at The Hawk Theatre, located in the City’s award-winning recreation and performance venue, in April.
